Step One: Brainstorming

I wish for once the idea
would strike before the pen
and roll around my brain
'til brain could comprehend.
Like conversation between
Heidegger and H. Arendt,
some thoughts are overdrawn
and some are left half-spent.

I wish for once the soup
would boil and simmer and cool;
I wish the dish of fish
was boneless as a rule,
but all the earth's best dreamers keep
salvation hoarded in their sleep.
