Michael Chabon

When a fellow
+ when a fellow
& when a fellow
gathers his hat up
to his head
and bids the
fete farewell --

the oaken gala --

-- when a chap leaves when
no one else leaves --
because he does not drink --
not with that tubed ice --
or there's a doll he must see --
maybe at a movie --
or say he ate all wrong for the day and
turns too nauseated to dance

then I know
. . . I do
you can bet I know
forever when to
the museum I go
I'll check my hat and go.
