Memorizing a Short Play

We act on the memory
with quick jabs and long
hopes )) we shred it like
focaccia bread )) we
knock on the door of our
brains at the most
inopportune
times and ask great deals
of our memory (( remember
the shape of this kiss
the way this dinner sits
the outline of a fright
one hot
summer
night
